On Tuesday, April 15 Munson Lakes Nutrition had the honor of hosting U.S. Senator for MN, Amy Klobuchar, MN Commissioner of Ag, Thom Peterson, Farmer’s Union President, Gary Wertish and MN Farm Bureau President, Dan Glessing to speak with farmers, ag leaders and press about the tariffs and how they will affect the farming industry. The Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee will be working on a new Farm Bill and will address critical issues such as:
- Extending a fair safety net for all producers, including beginning farmers and ranchers
- Ensuring families, children and seniors have access to nutritious foods
- Protecting our soil and water through popular, voluntary conservation programs
- Strengthening the support available for dairy farmers
- Allowing farms to meet more of our nation’s energy needs
- Supporting the economic development of rural communities
Attendees were allowed to comment and ask questions about issues being faced in the agriculture industry. We are honored to have been chosen to host this event!
